Candy Cane Invitational

The Keyano Candy Cane Invitational is a 2.5-day meet open to all Keyano swimmers. This is a very fun meet with lots of draw prizes. A great meet to finish off the the year as we head into the winter break!

 

Event: Keyano Candy Cane Invitational

Date: Friday Dec 11th, 2026 - Sunday Dec 13th, 2006
Pool: Kinsmen Sports Centre

Swimmers eligible: Silver, Gold, Junior Provincial, & Senior Provincial.(Bronze swimmers should check with their coach if they eligible)

Meet Format:
Friday PM – 50m Events Only
Friday evening features all the 50m races! Results from all four 50m events (free, back, breast, fly) are added together, and the Broken Candy Cane Award is presented to the fastest combined time in each age category: 8&U, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15&O, for both boys and girls.

Some Bronze swimmers will participate in this session, where all four 50m strokes are offered. Coaches will select which events each swimmer is ready to compete in.

Saturday & Sunday AM – Preliminaries
These are preliminary sessions, where swimmers race their entered events according to the meet schedule. The top 8 swimmers in each age group will qualify for the Finals later that day.

Saturday & Sunday PM – Finals & Relays
Evening sessions feature the Finals and Relays! Many Keyano swimmers will have the opportunity to take part in the exciting relay races.

• Relays are made up of teams of four swimmers. Each swimmer races 50m in their age category.

• Relays are held at the start of the PM sessions, allowing younger swimmers who may not be in the Finals to experience the fun and still finish within about two hours.

The Finals are for those who placed in the top 8 during preliminaries — racing for glory, prizes, and bragging rights!

Warm up: 4:00pm, Start 5:00pm

Saturday & Sunday AM
Warm up: 8:00am, Start: 9:00am

Saturday PM
Warm up: 4:00pm, Start: 5:00pm

Sunday PM
Warm up: 3:00pm, Start: 4:00pm

**Please be on deck 20 minutes prior to the start of warm-up

Meet Entry Fees:
50m events - TBC, 100m+ events - TBC, Relays -TBC
*Coaches will enter athletes who have signed up and all entry fees will be charged monthly through Keyano's billing system. 

Entry Limit:  Must meet the entry standard for events they enter.

Job Sign Up will be open for this swim meet, as it is a Keyano-hosted competition. This meet is a priority for development families.  Jobs are usually posted ~2-3 weeks out. Please come and help us out, earn a few participation points, and enjoy the fun atmosphere that Keyano puts on for the kids at this meet. It's a highlight of every season. Note that sign-up deadlines are set such that fees are no longer refundable beyond that date. Keyano pays for event costs and for entry fees to other club's hosted meets up front on behalf of members, and then passes those costs on to those signed up for a competition through monthly invoices. As a non-profit organization, it is our mandate to ensure each member is responsible for their own fees as of the sign-up deadline.
